Target Information

Cryptosporidium varanii (also known as C. saurophilum) is a protozoan parasite that targets the gastrointestinal system of lizards. This parasite is commonly excreted in the feces, with transmission mainly occurring through the fecal-oral route. Unlike Cryptosporidium serpentis, which mainly infects snakes, C. varanii primarily inhabits the intestines of most lizards it infects, such as geckos, rather than the stomach.
