Target Information

Porcine prostaglandin reductase 2 (pPTGR2) is an enzyme involved in the metabolism of prostaglandins, playing a key role in their final inactivation. Prostaglandins are lipid compounds that have diverse physiological effects, including regulation of inflammation, pain, and fever. PTGR2 is responsible for converting 15-keto-prostaglandins to their corresponding 13,14-dihydro-15-keto metabolites, thereby terminating their biological activity. This enzyme is a member of the short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase (SDR) family and is expressed in various tissues, where it helps maintain prostaglandin homeostasis.
