Target Information

Dynactin 1, also known as p150Glued, is a critical component of the dynactin complex, a protein assembly that plays a pivotal role in intracellular transport. This complex is particularly important for the movement of organelles and vesicles along microtubules, facilitated by the motor protein dynein. Dynactin 1 serves as the core of the dynactin complex, providing a scaffold for the assembly of other subunits. It is characterized by its ability to bind to microtubules and dynein, thereby regulating the dynein-microtubule interaction. Mutations in the gene encoding dynactin 1 have been associated with neurological disorders, such as Perry syndrome, highlighting its importance in maintaining neuronal function.
