Target Information
TAK1-binding protein 1 (TAB1) is a ubiquitin-associated domain-containing protein that functions as a critical adaptor and mediator in the signaling pathways of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) kinase kinase 1 (MAP3K1 or TAK1). TAB1 plays a pivotal role in the activation of TAK1, which in turn regulates various cellular processes, including inflammation, cell growth, and differentiation. As a part of the TAK1 signaling complex, TAB1 is involved in the transmission of signals from cell surface receptors to intracellular targets, contributing to the activation of downstream effectors such as the MAPK and NF-κB pathways. Its ability to interact with ubiquitin chains also suggests a role in the regulation of protein degradation and signal modulation.
