Target Information

Chicken hemoglobin beta is a component of hemoglobin, which is responsible for oxygen transport in avian species. It plays a critical role in the respiratory system by binding to oxygen in the lungs and releasing it in the tissues. Recent studies have also revealed that peptides derived from chicken hemoglobin, known as chicken hemoglobin antimicrobial peptides (CHAP), exhibit potent antimicrobial and bactericidal activities against a range of bacterial strains, including multidrug-resistant ones. These peptides demonstrate low hemolysis and toxicity, suggesting a high selectivity between eukaryote and prokaryote cells, which is crucial for their potential application in animal medication, breeding, and environmental protection without causing harm to the host. The stability of CHAP in different temperatures and animal serum further supports its practical application potential.
