Target Information
Porcine brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is a neurotrophic factor that plays a vital role in the development, survival, and function of neurons. It is widely expressed in the central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral tissues, supporting neuronal growth, differentiation, and synaptic plasticity. BDNF exerts its effects by binding to the high-affinity receptor TrkB, activating downstream signaling pathways such as the MAPK-ERK1/2 pathway, which promotes cell proliferation and survival. In porcine follicular granulosa cells, BDNF has been shown to enhance cell proliferation by regulating gene expression through mechanisms involving miRNAs and the ERK1/2 pathway.
