Target Information

Porcine cadherin 17 (pCDH17), also known as T-cadherin or adipo-cadherin, is a member of the cadherin superfamily of cell adhesion molecules. This protein is unique within the cadherin family as it lacks a transmembrane domain and is anchored to the cell membrane through a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) linkage. pCDH17 is involved in the regulation of cell-cell adhesion and is expressed in various tissues, including the heart, skeletal muscle, and adipose tissue. In pigs, pCDH17 plays a role in the development and maintenance of tissue integrity, particularly in the cardiovascular system and adipose tissue. It has been implicated in the regulation of angiogenesis, the process through which new blood vessels form from pre-existing vessels, and may also influence adipogenesis, the differentiation of precursor cells into adipocytes.
