Target Information
Porcine protein phosphatase 3 catalytic subunit alpha (PPP3CA), also known as calcineurin A alpha, is a serine/threonine protein phosphatase that is activated by calcium/calmodulin. This enzyme is essential for the transduction of intracellular Ca(2+)-mediated signals, playing a crucial role in various cellular processes such as cell cycle regulation, gene expression, and signal transduction. In pigs, PPP3CA is involved in the regulation of immune responses, neuronal function, and muscle development. It dephosphorylates and activates transcription factor NFATC1, which is important for immune cell activation and differentiation. The enzyme also plays a role in the development and maintenance of the nervous system, as well as in muscle fiber type specification.
