Target Information

Porcine thromboxane A synthase 1 (pTXAS1), also known as thromboxane synthase 1, is a key enzyme in the biosynthesis of thromboxane A2 (TXA2), a potent vasoconstrictor and platelet aggregator. pTXAS1 catalyzes the conversion of prostaglandin H2 (PGH2) to TXA2, playing a crucial role in the regulation of blood clotting and vascular tone. This enzyme is predominantly expressed in platelets and vascular endothelial cells, where it contributes to the maintenance of hemostasis and the response to injury. In pigs, pTXAS1 may be particularly important for the regulation of blood pressure and the prevention of excessive bleeding or clot formation.
