Target Information

Chicken E3 Ubiquitin-Protein Ligase Parkin (PARK2) is a RING-between-RING E3 ubiquitin ligase involved in the ubiquitination pathway, mediating the degradation of specific substrates through the ubiquitin-proteasome system. It plays a crucial role in mitochondrial quality control by promoting the degradation of damaged mitochondria via mitophagy. Mutations in the Parkin gene are associated with familial Parkinson's disease, highlighting its importance in neuroprotection. Parkin is also involved in transcriptional regulation, protein degradation, and cellular stress response.
