Target Information

Chicken inhibin beta B is a subunit of the inhibin and activin protein complexes, which are members of the TGF-beta superfamily. It is involved in the regulation of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion from the pituitary gland, playing a crucial role in reproductive processes. Inhibin Beta B, when combined with the alpha subunit, forms inhibin B, a hormone that provides negative feedback to the pituitary gland, thereby modulating FSH levels. This protein is also implicated in diverse biological functions, including gonadal hormone secretion, germ cell development, and embryonic development, depending on its subunit composition. In chickens, Inhibin Beta B is particularly important in the regulation of ovarian follicle development and the hormonal balance necessary for reproduction.
