Target Information
Porcine angiotensin I converting enzyme (ACE) is a key enzyme in the renin-angiotensin system that regulates blood pressure. It is a zinc and chloride-dependent peptidyl dipeptidase responsible for converting angiotensin I to the potent vasopressor angiotensin II, and for inactivating the vasodilator bradykinin. This enzyme, primarily existing as a cell-surface integral membrane glycoprotein, has two homologous domains with distinct catalytic properties, the N- and C-domains, which are thought to result from gene duplication.
