Streptococcus suis Hemolysin (SLY) Probe-based qPCR Kit

Streptococcus suis is widely acknowledged as a common and significant swine pathogen. Infections by S. suis can cause meningitis, polyarthritis, polyserositis, endocarditis, septicemia, and sudden death, resulting in considerable economic losses in pig farms. The hemolysin produced by S. suis is part of the cholesterol-binding cytolytic toxin family, sharing characteristics such as sensitivity to oxygen and oxidizing agents, activation by reducing agents, inhibition by low concentrations of cholesterol, transmembrane pore formation, and a "multihit" mechanism of action.
