Target Information

Pasteurella multocida is a Gram-negative bacterium found in various animal species, including domestic animals and wildlife. Its significance lies in its dual roles as a commensal bacterium in some contexts and a pathogen in others. Pasteurella multocida displays diversity in its strains and their virulence factors. Different strains may cause varying disease manifestations in different host species. For example, respiratory infections in poultry, atrophic rhinitis in pigs, and fowl cholera in birds.
