Target Information
The nucleoprotein (NP) of influenza B virus (IBV) is a vital component of the viral nucleocapsid, playing a central role in the replication and transcription processes of the virus. NP encapsidates the viral RNA genome, forming a helical ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complex, which is essential for the assembly of new virions. This protein is highly conserved among different strains of IBV, making it a potential target for broad-spectrum antiviral therapies and diagnostics. The NP's multifunctional nature includes binding to viral RNA, facilitating the export of viral ribonucleoproteins from the nucleus, and interacting with other viral proteins such as the poLymerase complex.
