Target Information

The Influenza A Virus H7 subtype is a strain of the avian influenza virus. The haemagglutinin (HA) of the H7 subtype is a critical surface glycoprotein that mediates the initial attachment of the virus to host cell receptors and facilitates the fusion of the viral envelope with the host cell membrane, enabling the release of viral contents into the cell. The HA protein is highly immunogenic, inducing neutralizing antibodies that can prevent the virus from entering host cells, thus making it a primary target for the host immune system and a focus for vaccine development.
