Nitrofurantoin (AHD) is a synthetic nitrofuran compound used in veterinary medicine for treating urinary tract infections in dogs and cats. It is effective against susceptible bacterial strains including Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Aerobacter aerogenes.
