Target Information

SP-A1, also known as SFTPA1, is one of the pulmonary surfactant-associated proteins. It is the most abundant protein in the alveolar surface of the lung and it directly affects pulmonary surfactant molecular size and polymerization degree. Owing to the important role in pulmonary immune defense, the SFTPA1 gene encoding SP-A1 protein is a candidate gene for further study to explore the molecular differences in pig immune resistance disease.
