Target Information
Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) is a polypeptide tropic hormone produced and secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. It plays a crucial role in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. ACTH stimulates the adrenal glands to produce and release cortisol (a glucocorticoid) and androgens (such as dehydroepiandrosterone). It is involved in the body's response to biological stress. Research has shown that cow hair accumulates cortisol in response to ACTH.
