Target Information

Caldesmon is a calmodulin-binding protein. It tonically inhibits the ATPase activity of myosin in smooth muscle. Its conserved domain binds to several molecules, including calmodulin, actin, tropomyosin, myosin, and phospholipids. Bovine Caldesmon 1 is encoded by the CALD1 gene in cattle. Caldesmon serves as a potent inhibitor of the actin-tropomyosin activated myosin MgATPase. It can regulate actin cytoskeleton by direct actin-binding.

Target/Biomarker Bovine CALD1
Target Synonym caldesmon 1; non-muscle caldesmon; CDM; L-caldesmon; caldesmon, smooth muscle
