Target Information

Cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1), abbreviated as CYP2E1, is a member of the cytochrome P450 mixed-function oxidase system. This system plays a crucial role in the metabolism of xenobiotics (foreign compounds) within the body. Bovine Cytochrome P450 2E1 is encoded by the CYP2E1 gene in cattle. It plays an important role in the induction of oxidative stress. Research has shown that high levels of NEFA and BHB significantly upregulate the expression and activity of hepatic CYP2E1 and may be involved in the induction of oxidative stress in cows with clinical ketosis.
