Target Information

Folic acid, which is one of the B vitamins, is critical to DNA and methionine metabolism. Folate in the form of folic acid is used to treat anemia caused by folate deficiency. Although microorganisms in the rumen can produce folates, the quantities required for optimal dairy cow efficiency have not been confirmed. The forage:concentrate ratio may affect the amount of folates produced in the rumen to some degree.
