Target Information

The Nitric oxide synthase 2 (NOS2) gene, encoded by the NOS2 gene in cattle, is expressed in epithelial cells of the liver, lung, and bone marrow. NOS2 plays a crucial role in protective immunity against CMV (cytomegalovirus). Interestingly, it is inducible by a combination of lipopolysaccharide and specific cytokines, and it significantly contributes to the immunological control of a wide range of infectious agents.
