Target Information
Structural maintenance of chromosomes protein 1A is encoded by the SMC1A gene in cattle. SMC1A is a subunit of the cohesin complex, which mediates sister chromatid cohesion during the cell cycle. It ensures that sister chromatids remain attached until proper segregation during cell division. It plays an oncogenic role in colorectal cancer and that it might be a promising target for colorectal cancer therapy.
