Target Information

Cardiolipin constitutes approximately 20% of the total lipid composition and is an important component of the inner mitochondrial membrane. Cardiolipin has four alkyl groups and potentially carries two negative charges. Research has shown that cardiolipin is the major source of linoleic acid used in the N-acylation of ethanolamine phospholipids by transacylase activity. It functions as an acyl donor in canine heart N-acylethanolamine phospholipid biosynthesis.
