Fibroblast growth factor 8 (FGF8) is a protein that plays important roles during development and tissue maintenance. Fibroblast Growth Factor 8 is encoded by the FGF8 gene in dogs. FGF8 is important in the morphogenesis of the first pharyngeal arch and the nasal ridges. It is also involved in the establishment and maintenance of the oral-aboral polarity of the mandible.
