Target Information

Hemoglobin is a ferriprotein in red blood cells. Hemoglobin in the blood carries oxygen from the lungs to other tissues in the body. In a dog model, high-level cell-free hemoglobin (CFH)-haptoglobin (Hp) complexes may impair clearance mechanisms and eliminate Hp's beneficial effect during sepsis.
