Target Information

Tight junction protein 1 (TJP1) is also known as Zonula Occludens 1 (ZO-1). ZO-1 belongs to the family of zonula occludens proteins, which includes ZO-2 and ZO-3. These proteins are associated with tight junctions, specialized structures that regulate the permeability of epithelial and endothelial barriers. Tight junction protein 1 is encoded by the chicken TJP1 gene. It is a member of the tight junction proteins, which are the most important aspect of intestinal integrity and form a barrier in the paracellular space.
