Target Information

Tryptase is considered the most abundant secretory granule-derived serine proteinase contained in mast cells. Tryptase serves as a marker for mast cell activation. It has been observed that mast cell degranulation causes the release of tryptase and histamine, which in turn initiates a systemic inflammatory response. Recent research has shown that meperidine has no effect on equine blood tryptase level.
