Target Information
Bovine Pyruvate Dehydrogenase E1 Component Subunit Alpha (PDHA1) is a key subunit of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex, a mitochondrial multienzyme complex that catalyzes the conversion of pyruvate to acetyl-CoA, linking glycolysis to the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle. This enzyme is essential for cellular energy metabolism and is highly conserved across species, including bovine. PDHA1 activity is regulated by reversible phosphorylation, which controls its role in metabolic pathways. Defects in PDHA1 are associated with metabolic disorders such as pyruvate dehydrogenase deficiency.
