Target Information
Bovine CD63, also known as LAMP-3 (lysosome-associated membrane protein-3), is a 237 amino acid multipass transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the tetraspanin TM4SF protein family. It is present in late endosomes, lysosomes, and secretory vesicles of various cell types, and is also found in the plasma membrane, typically following cell activation. CD63 serves as a widely used basophil activation marker and plays a role in cell activation, adhesion, motility, migration, and signal transduction in various cell types. It interacts with integrins and affects phagocytosis and cell migration, and is involved in the regulation of H/K-ATPase trafficking and ROMK1 channels. Additionally, CD63 serves as a T-cell costimulation molecule and its expression can be used for predicting the prognosis in earlier stages of carcinomas.
