Target Information

Porcine amylase alpha (pAmylase α), also known as salivary or pancreatic α-amylase, is a key enzyme in the digestion of carbohydrates in pigs. It plays a crucial role in the breakdown of starch and glycogen into simpler sugars, such as maltose, which can then be further digested and absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. pAmylase α is produced in the salivary glands and pancreas, and its secretion is stimulated by the presence of dietary starch. The enzyme works optimally in an acidic to neutral pH environment, which allows it to function effectively in the stomach and small intestine.
