Target Information
Porcine calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II alpha (pCaMKIIα) is a key regulatory enzyme that plays a pivotal role in intracellular signaling pathways in pigs. As a member of the calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase family, pCaMKIIα is activated by the binding of calcium and calmodulin, which triggers a series of phosphorylation events that modulate various cellular processes. This kinase is particularly important in the nervous system, where it is involved in the regulation of synaptic plasticity, neurotransmitter release, and neuronal excitability. pCaMKIIα contributes to the long-term potentiation, a process critical for learning and memory formation.
