Target Information

Protein phosphatase 1 beta (PP1β) is an isoform of the PP1 phosphatase, which is a vital serine/threonine phosphatase involved in the precise control of numerous cellular processes. PP1β, like its alpha counterpart, is crucial for the dephosphorylation of key regulatory proteins, thereby influencing cell signaling, metabolism, and the cell cycle. Although PP1β shares many substrates with PP1α, it has distinct regulatory properties and tissue distribution. The isoform-specific expression and activity of PP1β suggest unique roles in certain cellular functions. It is known to interact with a variety of regulatory subunits, which modulate its substrate specificity and localization.
