Target Information

Chicken CD8α is a cell surface glycoprotein that is part of the CD8 complex found on the surface of certain T lymphocytes, known as cytotoxic T cells, in chickens. The CD8 complex, which includes CD8α and CD8β chains, is crucial for the recognition of antigens presented by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules. cCD8α plays a critical role in T cell receptor (TCR)-mediated recognition of antigens. It forms a stable complex with MHC class I and the TCR, which facilitates the activation of cytotoxic T cells. This activation is essential for the immune response against intracellular pathogens and the elimination of virus-infected or malignant cells.
