Product Overview
BioVenic mouse monoclonal antibody is specific for canine glycine N-methyltransferase. It can be applied to WB and FACS assays of canine glycine N-methyltransferase.
Specifications
Target Information
Canine glycine N-methyltransferase (GNMT) is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in regulating the methylation cycle by catalyzing the transfer of a methyl group from S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) to glycine, forming sarcosine and S-adenosylhomocysteine (SAH). This process is significant as it influences the cellular methylation reactions, including DNA methylation and protein methylation, which are vital for gene regulation and protein function. GNMT also serves as a folate-binding protein and has been implicated in the prevention of DNA adduct formation by binding environmental carcinogens, thus playing a role in cancer prevention.
