Target Information

Porcine proline dehydrogenase 1 (PRODH1) is a mitochondrial enzyme that initiates the catabolism of L-proline, playing a pivotal role in cellular metabolism, growth, survival, and death. This enzyme is not only essential for proline metabolism but also contributes to energy provision, redox potential shuttling between cellular compartments, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. In pigs, PRODH1 has been implicated in protecting cells against oxidative stress-induced apoptosis and cell death, suggesting its importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis under stress conditions.
