Target Information

Canine C-reactive protein is an acute-phase protein found in the blood plasma of dogs. It is produced by the liver in response to inflammation, infection, tissue damage, or malignancy. cCRP plays a pivotal role in the innate immune system by binding to phosphocholine, a component of the cell wall of certain bacteria, and to damaged or dying cells. This binding enhances the clearance of these particles by the immune system and activates the complement system, which is part of the body's defense mechanism against infection.
