Target Information
Porcine glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (pGSK-3β) is a multifunctional serine/threonine kinase that plays a pivotal role in various cellular processes in pigs, including glycogen synthesis, cell cycle regulation, and apoptosis. It is a key regulatory enzyme involved in the control of glucose homeostasis by phosphorylating and inactivating glycogen synthase, thereby influencing glycogen deposition in liver and muscle tissues. pGSK-3β is also implicated in the Wnt signaling pathway, where it antagonizes the pathway's activity by phosphorylating and promoting the degradation of β-catenin, a central component of the Wnt signaling cascade. This kinase has been extensively studied due to its involvement in numerous cellular functions and its dysregulation in various diseases, including diabetes, neurodegenerative disorders, and cancer.
