Target Information

Porcine protein C receptor (pPROCR), also known as the endothelial protein C receptor (EPCR), is a membrane-bound glycoprotein that plays a critical role in the regulation of blood coagulation and inflammation. pPROCR serves as a receptor for the anticoagulant protein C, a key component of the protein C pathway, which is an important natural anticoagulant system in the blood. This receptor is highly expressed on the surface of endothelial cells, where it facilitates the activation of protein C by the thrombin-thrombomodulin complex. Once activated, protein C helps to inactivate factors Va and VIIIa, which are essential for the propagation of blood clotting, thus preventing excessive clot formation.
