Target Information

Protectin D1, also known as neuroprotectin D1 (when acting in the nervous system), is a member of the class of specialised proresolving mediators. It is found in various tissues, including the retina, lungs, and nervous system. It exhibits strong anti-inflammatory activity, and prevents cellular degeneration by inhibiting pro-apoptotic signals. Studies suggest that NPD1 can reduce inflammation induced by oxidative stress and protect against cellular damage.
