Target Information

Androgen Receptor is a ligand-activated transcription factor that mediates the actions of male sex hormones (androgens) such as testosterone. It is encoded by the AR gene in pigs. It was initially isolated from schwannoma cells as a mitogen for glial cells and fibroblasts. It is primarily found in cells of the male reproductive system, but also present in other tissues like muscle, bone, and brain. It promotes the neuronal differentiation and survival of PC12 cells.
