Target Information
Beta-casein, also known as β-casein, is a phosphoprotein found in mammalian milk. It is part of the casein family, which includes other related proteins such as αS1, αS2, and κ-casein. Beta-Casein is encoded by the CSN2 gene in pigs. It is an abundant milk protein expressed in mammary epithelial cells during lactation. Research has shown that transcription of the porcine β-casein gene is regulated by lactogenic hormone via intron 1 and promoter containing a mutant TATA box has poor porcine β-casein gene activity.
