It is found in various tissues and secretions, including tears, saliva, mucus, and immune cells. It is encoded by the LYZ gene in pigs. Lysozyme is a naturally occurring enzyme found in bodily secretions, such as tears, saliva, and milk. It can be used as a substitute for growth-promoting subtherapeutic antibiotics in swine feed.
