Target Information
Surfactant protein B (SP-B) is an essential lipid-associated protein found in pulmonary surfactant. SP-B rearranges lipid molecules in the fluid lining the lung. Pulmonary Surfactant-Associated Protein B is encoded by the SFTPB gene in pigs. This gene is a single copy gene located on chromosome 3. It is a member of the lung-specific surfactant-associated proteins, which are known to play an important role in normal lung surfactant function.
