Target Information
Porcine tyrosinase is a copper-dependent enzyme belonging to the type-3 copper protein family, widely found in various organisms, including mammals. It catalyzes two key reactions: the hydroxylation of monophenols (such as tyrosine) to catechols and the oxidation of catechols to quinones, which then polymerize to form melanin. In porcine systems, tyrosinase plays a crucial role in melanin synthesis, contributing to pigmentation in skin and hair. Additionally, tyrosinase is involved in wound healing and immune responses by promoting the formation of protective pigments and cross-linking proteins.
