Target Information
In rabbits, the APOA1 gene encodes Apolipoprotein A1, which plays a role in the reverse cholesterol transport process by facilitating cholesterol efflux from tissues to the liver for excretion, and also serves as a cofactor for lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT). Additionally, as a component of the SPAP complex, it enhances spermatozoa motility. Although there is no direct evidence for a specific function of ApoA1 in rabbits, based on its role in humans and other animal models, it can be hypothesized that ApoA1 may be involved in cholesterol metabolism, cardiovascular health, and possible anti-inflammatory or antioxidant effects in rabbits as well.
