Target Information

C-peptide is a short polypeptide that links the A-chain to the B-chain in the proinsulin molecule. When the pancreas produces insulin, it releases C-peptide as a byproduct into the body. The pancreas generates approximately equal amounts of insulin and C-peptide. A C-peptide test determines the concentration of C-peptide in the blood or urine and is commonly used to distinguish between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Rabbits are used in various metabolic studies, and C-peptide can provide insights into glucose homeostasis and insulin dynamics.
