Target Information

Endothelin-1, encoded by the EDN1 gene in rabbits, belongs to a group of vasoconstrictor peptides derived from the endothelium. It facilitates the remodeling of the mesenteric arterial wall by activating ROCK signaling, which leads to the colocalization of NFATC3 with F-actin filaments. It has been shown that ET-1 causes significant vasoconstrictive effects in rabbits by activating endothelin A-type receptors (ETA). In a rabbit model, overexpression of ET-1 may lead to elevated blood pressure. ET-1 affects renal water-salt balance by activating ETB receptors and increasing sodium excretion. This action may be related to the mechanism of blood pressure regulation in rabbits under high salt dietary conditions.
