Target Information
Canine leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is a cytokine that belongs to the IL-6 family and plays a multifaceted role in various biological processes. In dogs, LIF is crucial for embryonic implantation, maintaining pluripotency in embryonic stem cells, and the proliferation of progenitor cells. It also influences immune cell differentiation, promoting regulatory T cells while inhibiting Th17 cells. LIF is essential for supporting T cell maturation in the thymic epithelium, enhancing motor neuron survival, and oligodendrocyte myelination. Additionally, it can function as an autocrine growth factor in pancreatic cancer and induce the formation of immunosuppressive tumor-associated macrophages.
